About this Mod

Step into a new age of mining and adventure!
The Silver Age is a vanilla-friendly mod that introduces Silver, designed to feel like an official game drop you’d expect straight from the developers at Mojang.

Features
Oxidization
Silver blocks don’t stay shiny forever. Over time, silver blocks will oxidize, becoming darker in color. Just like with copper, silver blocks will slowly go through the stages Unaffected, Exposed, Weathered and Oxidized. To stop the oxidization process, wax them with Honeycomb (or remove the wax with an axe).
The Silver Age adds many decorative blocks, which can all oxidize: Block of Silver, Cut Silver (with slab & stairs), Chiseled Silver, Silver Grate, Silver Bulb, Silver Door and Silver Trapdoor.
💡 Tip: Block of Silver can also be used to power up your Beacon!
Secrets of the moon
One of the new utility items is the Moon Dial. Similar to a Clock, you can use it to keep track of the next moon phase. You can also use the Moon Phase Detector for phase detection in your redstone builds.
Tools & Equipment
Of course, with a new metal comes a new set of tools and armor! Don't worry, this is not yet another new overpowered tier. Silver is designed to be slightly stronger than iron, but with less durability. It has slightly higher enchantability than iron, but not as much as gold. This brings a bit more strategy into choosing your equipment.
In addition to a new tools & armor set, dress up your horses with shiny new Silver Horse Armor! Silver armor is also trimmable, and silver can be used as a new trimming material for your other armor.
Be wary for monsters, as they learned to wear silver armor too…
Trading & Loot
Structure loot tables have been carefully adjusted to include silver items. To make sure loot feels natural and not cluttered or overpowered, the mod randomly replaces iron/golden items with their silver variants. The same has been done with villager trades. For flavor, silverfish now randomly drop Silver Nugget when defeated.
Still prefer vanilla loot? Villager trades and loot overrides can be disabled through the mod's config.
Making Silver Matter
Silver isn’t meant to sit on the sidelines — it’s part of your everyday Minecraft journey. To help it feel truly at home in the game’s progression, silver has been woven into existing vanilla recipes.
With its ties to energy and alchemy, silver now appears in systems that already feel magical or technical, like brewing and redstone. A few familiar recipes have been updated to include silver:
- Lodestone (Silver Ingot, instead of Netherite/Iron Ingot)
- Brewing Stand (Silver Ingot, instead of Stone)
- Redstone Repeater (Silver Ingot, instead of Stone)
- Redstone Comparator (Silver Ingot, instead of Stone)
- Glistering Melon Slice (Silver Nugget, in addition to Gold Nugget)
Some of these items also have (subtle) adjusted textures, giving them a silvery look.
Prefer the original recipes and textures? These overrides can be disabled in the mod's config!
Other integrations
Silver also finds its way into smaller corners of the game. You can now use Silver Nuggets when crafting Firework Stars, giving your celebrations a little extra shine. You’ll also discover a few new advancements along the way.
