Tyr's Minecart Speed Fixes
A overengineered minecart default speed tweaker, with lots of configurable options!
About this Mod
This mod modifies the minecart default speed from the vanilla 0.4 to 2.0 (by default). You can configure that in the extensive config. Values range up to 4.0.
Additionally, this mod offers some extra features when the speed is set above 1.0.
- Acceleration System
- Which will linearly accelerate your minecart by a configurable amount once you go faster than 20 blocks per second, and have a powered rail every 12 (configurable) blocks in your track.
- The faster you go, the further away the powered rails can be from each other. It is all configurable in the configs.
- This also works down slopes. Linear acceleration is slightly faster when going down a slope, and you do not need powered rails, only simple ones, until you hit stable ground again.
- Deceleration System
- Because Minecraft sucks with corners, there is a deceleration system that slows you down to about 12 blocks per second on said corners. This also applies to sloped rails when going up. This is configurable, but I advise not raising the speed higher than this.
- Rail Clamping System
- Despite my best efforts, minecarts still sometimes decided to yeet themselves when going down accelerated slopes. It was very funny. But I fixed it (mostly) for speeds up to 2.0 (which should be more than enough). Essentially, there is a intelligent pathing/raycasting algorithm that checks if youre supposed to be on a rail, and sets you back onto it if you leave, with your acceleration preserved.
- Speed HUD
- There is also an option to display your speed on the actionbar when you use the minecart. It gives useful info like when the minecart is accelerating, decelerating, what speed it has rn, etc. It will conflict if you have anything else using the actionbar though, like a coordinates datapack or something, so be aware.
This mod is in beta, and there are probably still bugs I am not aware of. I spent about 12 hours testing stuff, but there will always be more, so please, if you do find anything, please report it in my discord.
