About this Mod

Adds two gamerules to enable and control vanilla sapling growth.
This mod is only intended to be used to restore vanilla sapling growth when playing with other mods or datapacks that override the default minecraft/worldgen/configured_features for trees.

Gamerules

  • /gamerule doVanillaTreeGrowthAlways [true/false]
    • Default Value: false
    • if true, all saplings will use the vanilla tree generators when growing
  • /gamerule doDispensersForceVanillaTreeGrowth [true/false]
    • Default Value: true
    • if true, if there is a Dispenser block adjacent to a sapling when it grows, it will use the vanilla tree generator. If there is not a dispenser, it will use the behavior defined in gamerule doVanillaTreeGrowthAlways

How to Install Vanilla Trees on Your Server

Order Server

Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 4 GB RAM (6 GB recommended).

Set fabric Loader

In the panel under "Egg", select the fabric loader and matching Minecraft version (26.2).

Install Mod

Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "Vanilla Trees". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

Vanilla Trees server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 4 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (26.2). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
