About this Mod
View Distance Command
This is a really simple client side mod that lets you change your minecraft view/render distance with an in game command.
Important
This mod requires the Fabric API
If you want a view distance higher than the Minecraft limit of 32, or are playing on a server with a view distance cap, you can use a mod like Bobby to allow larger view distances!
Command Options
/viewdistance set [distance] - Set your current render distance to [distance]
/viewdistance get - Prints your current view distance in the chat
/viewdistance help - Displays the help message (see the help message below!)
You can also use the alias
vdin place ofviewdistancein all commands!

How to Install View Distance Command on Your Server
Order Server
Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).
Set fabric Loader
In the panel under "Egg", select the fabric loader and matching Minecraft version (1.21.8).
Install Mod
Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "View Distance Command". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

View Distance Command server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.8). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is View Distance Command compatible with fabric?
View Distance Command officially supports fabric for Minecraft 1.21.8, 1.21.7, 1.21.6. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with View Distance Command – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if View Distance Command consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge.
