About this Mod
Villager Trader
Villager Trader adds a brand-new functional block
that lets you automatically trade with villagers.
How it works
- Place the Villager Trader block.
- Make a Villager stand on top of it.
- Rename the Villager to the trade number you want (e.g., “1”, “2”, “3”…).
- Put a chest (or any container) above the villager and fill it with the items required for that trade.
- The Villager Trader will automatically take items from the container and perform the trade.
Current Limitations (ALPHA)
- Only supports trades with one buy item.
- Functionality is very buggy and may not work reliably.
- Some trades may not trigger or may break under certain conditions.
- Multi-item trades are not yet supported.
- You may lose your items when putting them into Villager Trader.

Villager Trader server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong datapack version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.8). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is Villager Trader compatible with datapack and fabric and forge and neoforge and quilt?
Villager Trader officially supports datapack, fabric, forge, neoforge, quilt for Minecraft 1.21.8. Note: Forge and Fabric mods are NOT cross-compatible – pick one loader and stick with it. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with Villager Trader – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Villager Trader consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
