Volcano
Instantly generate active, rising volcanoes with flowing lava and explosive fireballs using a simple command.
About this Mod
Volcano Mod
I wanted to make mountains grow.
Most structure mods just paste a building into the world instantly. I wanted something more dynamic—a mod that lets you watch a massive volcano rise out of the flat ground in real-time.
How it works
It’s a mix of terrain deformation and a chaotic event.
- It Grows: When you start the event, the ground actually rises. It pulls the terrain up to 100 blocks high, converting the dirt and stone into jagged Basalt as it goes.
- The Eruption: Once it hits peak height, the crater fills with lava and starts spewing smoke and particles.
- Volcanic Bombs: It shoots magma projectiles into the sky.
The "Smart" Destruction
I spent some time tuning the destruction logic because I didn't want the volcano to blow itself up immediately.
- Near the Crater: Explosions here are visual-only. This keeps the volcano looking cool and pointy.
- Further Away: The projectiles cause real damage and set fires. It creates a nice zone of chaos around the base without ruining the mountain itself.
How to use it
Right now, it's trigger-based (great for admins or people who just want to see the world burn).
- Find a big open space (seriously, you need room).
- Run:
/volcano activate - Stand back.
Performance Note
Since this mod is actively moving thousands of blocks to create the mountain shape, it can be a bit heavy on the server while it's rising.
Don't spawn this next to your base. It will eat your house.
Enjoy the eruption!

Volcano server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong neoforge version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 4 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is Volcano compatible with neoforge?
Volcano officially supports neoforge for Minecraft 1.21.1. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with Volcano – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 6 GB (per 5 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Volcano consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
