About this Mod

XP Theory adds new experience systems to all living entities, allowing mobs to
absorb and use experience for size and health. XP Theory also adds the Enchanter
from MCD with new mob enchantments.

The Enchanter is a new illager mob that can spawn in Mansions and high-tier raids. Enchanters will apply mob enchants to mobs that share the same target as the Enchanter.

Mob Enchants can be applied to any mob as well as the player. Enhancing Books can apply these enchantments, while Cleansing Books clear all enchants. 

  • Melee - increased melee damage
  • Protection - increased base armor
  • Quick - increased movement speed
  • Steadfast - increased base knockback resistance
  • Hearth - natural regeneration
  • Fire Aspect - fire aspect
  • Deflect - reduced arrow damage
  • Feather Falling - reduced fall damage
  • Swiftswing - reduced invulnerability frames on targets
  • Slime Split - mobs duplicate into their baby counterpart on death
  • Thorns - thorns
  • Gravital - attracts target towards enchanted
  • Frenzied - increased movement speed as health lowers
  • Radiance - heals mobs nearby when taking damage
  • Freezing - freezes target
  • Leeching - heals mob based on damage applied
  • Committed - increased attack damage as target's health lowers
  • Cowardice - increased attack damage while full health
  • Bombastic - creates explosion on death

Ancient Mobs have a .125% chance to spawn ancient. Ancient mobs have an increased xp yield as well as naturally high enchantments and a golden glint.

Mobs can absorb experience to increase their health and size. Mobs drop their stored experience.

How to Install XP Theory on Your Server

Order Server

Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).

Set forge Loader

In the panel under "Egg", select the forge loader and matching Minecraft version (1.20.1).

Install Mod

Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "XP Theory". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

Frequently Asked Questions

XP Theory server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong forge version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.20.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is XP Theory compatible with forge?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if XP Theory consumes the most tick time.
