About this Mod

Zelda Foes is a mod that adds a variety of new zelda-inspired monsters to the world of Minecraft. Inspired by my childhood favorite, Ocarina of Time, this mod adds several new hostile mobs to encounter in the world, giving not only variety to combat, but new challenges, gear, and interactions to discover.

The Mobs are the following:

  • Cave Dodongo
Spoiler

A rare, hulking lizard found deep in caves. It's fireproof scales are hardened to incredible degrees, making frontal attack near impossible without explosives. Luckily, they're slow, lumbering, and their tails are especially weak. Killing one yields a Dodongo Scale, which can be crafted with several others to make a strong helmet that can protect the wearer from Lava (temporarily).

  • Tektite
Spoiler

A Common, surface-dwelling arthropod sharing many similiarities to the spider. These odd creatures lack regular locomotion, instead relying on strong legs to hop from place-to-place. They can be threatening in large numbers, and have quite a painful pounce. When killed, they can drop their legs which are tasty when eaten cooked, and assist the eater in jumping higher for a short time!

  • Deku Baba
Spoiler

A carnivorous plant found exclusively in forests. These innocuous seeming plants seem to sprout all over the place in dense woods. While not picky about their targets, they can be quite annoying, swaying wildly to damage any mobs nearby in an attempt to spread nutrients for the soil. When killed, the Deku Baba drops sticks.

  • Deku Scrub
Spoiler

A vengeful plant spirit. These irate woodland critters despise any human trespassers into their woods. Firmly rooted in place, these guys cannot move at all, except to burrow when threatened. They shoot hardened beans at nearby players to ward off potential threats, but are cowardly if approached. Their beans can be deflected back at them for devastating (emotional) damage, and they drop Saplings, Apples, and Cocoa Beans when killed.

  • Redead
Spoiler

It's been regular conjecture as to what foul force animates these creatures - be they products of necromancy or simply possessed clay dolls. What is known, however, is that the wooden masks covering their face induce fear in all who see them, and when they meet your gaze they inflict a paralyzing scream. Be sure not to touch them, either, as they have a withering grasp. They drop leather when killed, and burn in sunlight.

  • Like-Like
Spoiler

A horrible, undulating mass found rarely in caves. These subterranean monstrosities are known to consume all manner of mass, not excluding you. If and when they get ahold of a player, they will begin consuming the armor and held items of whoever fell victim to its grasp. They spit out the player after a few seconds, but anyone wanting to get their gear back must slay the like-like or let it be digested forever. Curse of binding and loyalty both make items immune to digestion by the Like-Like, and custom enchantments can be added to the config to also make items immune to digestion. They drop slimeballs when killed.

Every mob in this mod was made by me in blockbench, and textured by hand - with exception of the Like-Like, which was created with assistance of AI (I'm no good at advanced animations, unfortunately). Initially MCreator was used to build the foundation for the mod, but work has extended past the limitations of Mcreator. Each mob has special behavior unique to vanilla mobs.
