About this Mod

Modern Sound

Modern Sound includes performance and quality-of-life tweaks for the sound system to give the player a seamless experience.

Main features:

  • Faster sound loading

Loads the sound system asynchronously, improving the games load time and prevents lag spikes when a device is disconnected

  • Auto-reloading

Automatically reloads the sound system when a device is lost / a new one connected so you don't have to F3 + T (which can take a while especially on big modpacks)

  • Manual sound reloading

Adds a button to the music & sounds options where you can manually reload just the sound system

Note: You may have to restart your game after installing the mod for it to take effect.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Modern Sound need to be installed on the Minecraft server?

No. Modrinth marks Modern Sound as unsupported on the server side. Install it only in your local Minecraft mods folder. Your server can remain unchanged unless the mod page lists an additional dependency.

Which version and loader does Modern Sound require?

Use a file for forge and your exact Minecraft version. Supported versions include 1.8.9. Files for different loaders are not interchangeable.

Modern Sound is not working – what should I check?

First check the Minecraft version, loader version and required dependencies. Put the .jar file in your local .minecraft/mods folder and remove older duplicates. Because this mod is client-side, adding server RAM will not fix it.
