About this Mod
Salt adds a food salting mechanic, as well as several other features and blocks.

Description
- Food can now be salted to improve the taste and add nutrition.
- Salting recipe is dynamic and controlled by "salt:can_be_salted" tag:
- Several mods, such as Farmer's Delight, are supported out of the box.
- Nutrition value can be configured per food.
Rock Salt
- Rock Salt will generate underground (sililar to ores) in dripstone caves, ocean and beach biomes.
- When harvested, Rock Salt Ore will drop Raw Rock Salt, which is crafted into Salt.
- Salt can be also obtained by growing Salt Crystals or by evaporating water in a cauldron.

All Salt blocks are dissolvable in water.
Salt blocks will melt adjacent ice and snow blocks.
Ice and snow can also be melted by sprinkling them with salt.
The mod is highly configurable:

How to Install Salt on Your Server
Order Server
Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).
Set forge Loader
In the panel under "Egg", select the forge loader and matching Minecraft version (1.20.1).
Install Mod
Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "Salt". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

Salt server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong forge version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.20.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is Salt compatible with forge and neoforge?

Server lagging with Salt – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Salt consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge.
