About this Mod
Sparkle's Morpher
A universal custom model loader for Minecraft, supporting custom models, animations, textures, sounds, and multiplayer model sharing.
Sparkle's Morpher originally evolved from Fox Model Loader and continued that development throughout the Sparkle's Morpher 1.x generation.
Starting after Sparkle's Morpher 1.2.9, the project entered a new stage of development.
Sparkle's Morpher 2.x introduces a fundamentally redesigned multiplayer architecture focused on a client-side experience and SPM Cloud, while the previous server-integrated architecture continues separately as Fox Model Loader: Revival 2.x.
The two projects now share a common history, but follow different development directions.
✨ Features
Custom Player Models
Replace the vanilla Steve and Alex player models with fully customized 3D characters.
Custom models can include:
- Custom geometry
- Textures
- Skeletal animations
- First-person arms
- Sound effects
- Custom actions and animation states
Sparkle's Morpher is designed as a universal model-loading platform and will continue expanding support for additional model formats and use cases.
Multiple Model Formats
Sparkle's Morpher currently supports:
- YSM (
.ysm) - Blockbench (
.bbmodel) - Figura avatar archives
- Compatible ZIP-based model packages
.ysm support is based on the OpenYSM/YSMParser ecosystem.
Blockbench projects can be imported directly, including model geometry, bone hierarchies, textures, animations, and other supported project data.
Support for additional mainstream model formats is planned for future releases.
Animation System
Sparkle's Morpher includes a flexible animation system supporting:
- Movement and action animations
- Animation controllers
loop,once, andholdplayback modes- Molang expressions
- Model-specific actions
The built-in animation carousel can be opened with Z by default, allowing supported model actions and animations to be triggered directly in game.
Sound Effects
Models can include voice lines and other sound effects.
Sparkle's Morpher supports Opus audio decoding with cross-platform native acceleration for low-latency playback.
Model Management
Models can be imported and organized from multiple sources, including:
- Local files
- Directories
- Archives
- URLs
- Supported remote sources
Models can also be grouped, added to favorites, and automatically discovered from supported file formats.
Multiplayer in Sparkle's Morpher 2.x
Sparkle's Morpher 2.x introduces a new multiplayer architecture that differs fundamentally from the server-integrated synchronization system used by Sparkle's Morpher 1.x.
The 2.x line is designed around a client-side model platform with SPM Cloud-based synchronization and distribution, reducing dependence on a dedicated Minecraft server-side installation.
This allows Sparkle's Morpher to develop its multiplayer system independently from the traditional server-controlled model synchronization architecture.
If you prefer the previous server-integrated approach, that development line now continues separately as Fox Model Loader: Revival.
Mod Compatibility
Sparkle's Morpher includes compatibility work for popular Minecraft mods and rendering systems.
Compatibility may vary depending on Minecraft version, mod loader, and individual mod versions.
Current compatibility work includes projects such as:
- Better Combat
- Curios
- Create
- Iris
- Sodium
- Skin-layer rendering mods
🔀 Sparkle's Morpher and Fox Model Loader
Fox Model Loader and Sparkle's Morpher have a shared development history.
The simplified lineage is:
Fox Model Loader 1.x
↓
Sparkle's Morpher 1.x
↓
Sparkle's Morpher 1.2.9
↓
Development split into two directions:
Sparkle's Morpher 2.x
Continues Sparkle's Morpher as the forward-looking universal model platform.
Its multiplayer system has been redesigned around a client-side architecture and SPM Cloud.
Fox Model Loader: Revival 2.x
Continues development of the previous server-integrated architecture.
Fox Model Loader: Revival retains the traditional approach where the Minecraft server participates directly in model synchronization and distribution.
The two projects are therefore separately maintained development lines, rather than one simply replacing the other.
🔄 For Sparkle's Morpher 1.x Users
Sparkle's Morpher 1.x users now have two upgrade paths depending on which multiplayer architecture they prefer.
Choose Sparkle's Morpher 2.x if you want the new SPM architecture and SPM Cloud-based direction.
Choose Fox Model Loader: Revival 2.x if you prefer the traditional server-integrated synchronization model derived from the Sparkle's Morpher 1.x architecture.
Because the two projects now use different architectures and identities, they should not be treated as interchangeable installations.
Back up important models and configuration files before performing major-version migrations.
📦 Historical Fox Model Loader Releases
This Modrinth project originally hosted Fox Model Loader before the project evolved into Sparkle's Morpher.
For that reason, older Fox Model Loader releases remain available here as part of the project's historical release record.
They are preserved for:
- Existing installations
- Older Minecraft versions
- Compatibility
- Rollback
- Historical preservation
These historical files should not be confused with the newly revived Fox Model Loader: Revival 2.x development line.
New Fox Model Loader development now takes place on the separate Fox Model Loader: Revival project.
🧩 Project Identity
Sparkle's Morpher uses the Mod ID:
sparkle_morpher
Fox Model Loader: Revival 2.x uses its own independent Mod ID:
foxmodelloader
Historical Fox Model Loader releases used the older YSM-derived identity.
This separation reflects the fact that Sparkle's Morpher 2.x and Fox Model Loader: Revival 2.x are now independently maintained projects.
