About this Mod

This mod does two things:

  • Allows glass, glass panes, and the glass part of beacons to be rendered using translucent textures. Attempting to do this using only a resource pack does not work (pre-26.1) because translucent blocks are rendered during a separate stage.
  • Provides a built-in resource pack which reduces the opacity of glass.

Some additional notes:

  • You have to enable the built-in resource pack (or an external one that is compatible) in order for this mod to have any effect. Since v0.1.2, this is enabled by default.
  • This mod requires the Fabric API, specifically the rendering API. This also means that if you're using it with Sodium <0.6, Indium is required.
  • For best results, use Sodium version 0.6 or higher, since that includes proper translucency sorting support.
  • The built-in resource pack includes CTM textures, so it will work with Continuity.
  • The built-in resource pack includes textures for the Mo Glass mod (Mo Glass version 1.10 or higher required)
  • In Minecraft 26.1 and above, this functionality no longer requires a mod. I will continue offering this mod as a wrapper for a resource pack, but you can also download the resource pack directly here.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Translucent Glass need to be installed on the Minecraft server?

No. Modrinth marks Translucent Glass as unsupported on the server side. Install it only in your local Minecraft mods folder. Your server can remain unchanged unless the mod page lists an additional dependency.

Which version and loader does Translucent Glass require?

Use a file for fabric and your exact Minecraft version. Supported versions include 26.2, 26.1.2, 26.1.1. Files for different loaders are not interchangeable.

Translucent Glass is not working – what should I check?

First check the Minecraft version, loader version and required dependencies. Put the .jar file in your local .minecraft/mods folder and remove older duplicates. Because this mod is client-side, adding server RAM will not fix it.
