Unforseen Consequences
OpenGL ES 3.0 in Minecraft
About this Mod
THIS MOD WILL NO LONGER BE UPDATED!!!
Enough has changed between this and modern versions where it would need a lot to be rewritten for it to work and I have no idea on how to do that. If you really need this for newer versions, theres is a more updated fork here
Unforeseen Consequences - OpenGL ES 3.0 in Minecraft
Note: This mod REQUIRES the GL_OES_mapbuffer extension to work at all!
Prepare for unforeseen consequences.
-- The G-Man, Half Life 2 Episode 2
This mod hacks OpenGL ES 3.0 into Minecraft to try and get better performance
It also disables GLFW from throwing errors for the time being
This mod is under development and is not guaranteed to work with any other mod (especially mods like Sodium)
Part of my plan for this mod is to optimize some parts of Minecraft to run better and so it works without forcing GLFW_CONTEXT_NO_ERROR
Why is it named unforeseen consequences? I didn't realize how destructive this change is before I started making the mod and HL2 is my favorite game.
Currently there are severe compatibility issues (like expected) and under Mesa the game runs worse than on Windows due to constant GL error log spam

Does Unforseen Consequences need to be installed on the Minecraft server?
No. Modrinth marks Unforseen Consequences as unsupported on the server side. Install it only in your local Minecraft mods folder. Your server can remain unchanged unless the mod page lists an additional dependency.
Which version and loader does Unforseen Consequences require?
Use a file for fabric and your exact Minecraft version. Supported versions include 1.21.3, 1.21.2, 1.21.1. Files for different loaders are not interchangeable.
Unforseen Consequences is not working – what should I check?
First check the Minecraft version, loader version and required dependencies. Put the .jar file in your local .minecraft/mods folder and remove older duplicates. Because this mod is client-side, adding server RAM will not fix it.
