About this Mod
Accurate Hitboxes
Accurate Hitboxes replaces Minecraft's broad entity hit detection with hitboxes derived from visible model parts. Attacks and projectiles must intersect the model geometry instead of only the vanilla bounding box.
Features
- Per-part hitboxes for vanilla and many modded entities
- Animated hitboxes that follow model movement, rotation, scaling, and entity state
- Dedicated-server synchronization for model-derived hitboxes
- GeckoLib 4 support when GeckoLib is installed
- Blacklist and whitelist configuration modes
- Configurable per-part debug outlines with
F3+B - TaCZ bullet compatibility on Forge/NeoForge 1.20.1
- Baby and scaled-entity support
Requirements
Accurate Hitboxes must be installed on both the client and server, and both sides must use the same release.
The current mod release supports Minecraft 1.20.1:
- Fabric and Quilt
- Forge and NeoForge
Older releases are available for Minecraft 1.20.2 and 1.20.3.
Configuration
Open the in-game configuration menu through:
- Mod Menu on Fabric or Quilt
- The Mods menu on Forge or NeoForge
Ctrl+Alt+Awith the default key binding
The menu lets players configure the debug-outline color, vanilla bounding-box visibility, and personal entity-list rules. Personal whitelist and blacklist settings apply only in single-player. In multiplayer, entity rules are controlled by the server and the corresponding player controls are hidden.
The configuration file is located at:
config/accuratehitboxes.json
Set mode to:
blacklistto disable accurate hitboxes for listed entity IDswhitelistto enable accurate hitboxes only for listed entity IDs
Server administrators can edit this file to control the entity rules used for every player on a multiplayer server.
The Ender Dragon and its entity parts are always excluded because Minecraft handles that boss through its own multipart collision system.
Compatibility Notes
- GeckoLib 4 is detected automatically and remains optional.
- Sodium and Iris use different rendering paths; compatibility can depend on the exact mod versions and shader setup.
- With EMF/ETF custom models, collision and the green debug overlay may follow the underlying vanilla model rather than the replacement model.
- Highly unusual renderers or entities that do not use supported model structures may fall back to vanilla hit detection.
