About this Mod

Configured Defaults is a utility mod for modpacks that automatically copies missing files and folders into the game or server directory from a default location provided through the configureddefaults folder. 📦
Its primary purpose is helping modpack creators distribute default configuration files. This is especially useful when adding new mods in an update, ensuring players receive the intended configuration instead of having the mod generate its own defaults on first launch. ⚙️
The mod supports any file or folder within the game directory, making it useful for far more than just configuration files. 📁
Additionally, options.txt receives special handling. Rather than replacing an existing file, missing entries can be merged from the provided default version, allowing new settings to be added while preserving a player's existing preferences. ✨

Configured Defaults server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (26.2). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is Configured Defaults compatible with fabric and forge and neoforge?
Configured Defaults officially supports fabric, forge, neoforge for Minecraft 26.2, 26.1.2, 26.1.1. Note: Forge and Fabric mods are NOT cross-compatible – pick one loader and stick with it. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with Configured Defaults – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Configured Defaults consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
