Move a Minecraft server: world, mods and configuration
A safe migration starts with a complete backup and the same server version at the destination. Copy data while both servers are stopped and verify the new server before removing the old installation.
1. Record the setup and secure access
Record the edition, Minecraft version, server type, loader, mods and plugins. Back up worlds including extra dimensions, configuration, allowlists, operators and separate databases where applicable. Check whether your current provider offers SFTP or a complete export. A world folder alone is not a full modpack backup.
2. Prepare and transfer
Create a Mado server with the matching type and version. Stop both servers. Upload the backup through the file manager or SFTP. Check world name, directory layout and version requirements; do not blindly copy old credentials or provider-specific paths. Export and import databases separately and update their connection settings.
3. Verify and switch the address
Start the destination server and inspect its log. Join with a compatible client and verify inventories, dimensions, permissions, plugins and mods. Then update your domain or SRV configuration. Keep the old state available for rollback. If verification fails, stop the destination and restore the unchanged backup.
