About this Mod

HMI x VPB Compatibility Patch

A lightweight patch mod designed to fix the rendering conflict between Hold My Items and Vic's Point Blank (VPB).

Note: This release is specifically for Minecraft 1.21.11. While I do not currently have plans to support other versions, the source code is uploaded for anyone who wishes to backport it.

Overview

When both mods are active, Hold My Items overrides the first-person rendering pipeline. This prevents Vic's Point Blank guns from displaying their custom animations and breaks the Aim Down Sights (ADS) functionality.

This patch fixes that behavior by:

  • Detecting when a VPB weapon is held.
  • Bypassing the HMI animation system for those specific items.
  • Restoring VPB's native animations and scoping mechanics.
  • Preserving HMI animations for all other items.

About This Project

I originally created this patch for personal use to fix my own modded experience. I’ve decided to share it here for anyone else facing the same conflict.

This is my first mod uploaded to Modrinth! I plan to release more, possibly also small mods from personal use and / or compatibility patches in the future!

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Hold My Guns need to be installed on the Minecraft server?

No. Modrinth marks Hold My Guns as unsupported on the server side. Install it only in your local Minecraft mods folder. Your server can remain unchanged unless the mod page lists an additional dependency.

Which version and loader does Hold My Guns require?

Use a file for fabric and your exact Minecraft version. Supported versions include 1.21.11. Files for different loaders are not interchangeable.

Hold My Guns is not working – what should I check?

First check the Minecraft version, loader version and required dependencies. Put the .jar file in your local .minecraft/mods folder and remove older duplicates. Because this mod is client-side, adding server RAM will not fix it.
