Ancient warriors do not rest easily.

Deep beneath frozen mountains, ruined forts, and forgotten crypts, the Draugr are waking again. They block attacks, heal when wounded, use magic, fight in coordinated groups, and defend ancient ruins filled with traps, puzzles, hidden mechanisms, artifacts, and treasure.

Draugr Invasion turns the Draugr into a complete adventure rather than a simple mob pack. Explore Nordic structures, recover the fragments of the Golden Claw, awaken the Draugr Overlord, charge an ancient Soul Gem, and eventually call an entire Draugr invasion directly to your position.

If you enjoy the mod, use the Follow button on CurseForge to be notified when new creatures, structures, features, and major updates are released.

What Makes Draugr Invasion Different?

  • Advanced enemy AI: Draugr can block, heal, dodge, use magic, and react differently depending on the fight.
  • Large handcrafted Nordic structures: Explore Crypts, Bastions, Forts, and Towers filled with hostile creatures, traps, puzzles, hidden mechanisms, secrets, and valuable loot.
  • A real progression system: Golden Claw Fragments, ancient altars, boss encounters, Soul Gems, and Draugr Raids all connect into one adventure loop.
  • A dedicated boss encounter: The Draugr Overlord uses animated rush attacks, multi-hit combos, special abilities, and changing combat patterns.
  • A raid built around the player: The Draugr are not attacking a village. They are coming for you.
  • Multiplayer-friendly exploration: Personal chest loot means every player can receive their own rewards.
  • Built for modpacks: Health, damage, armor, spawns, raid waves, traps, loot behavior, and more can be configured in game.

Draugr Raid

Your Adventure

Draugr Invasion is designed around a clear progression loop:

  1. Discover a Draugr structure and survive its guardians.
  2. Search for Golden Claw Fragments hidden throughout Draugr Crypts and Bastions.
  3. Reassemble the Golden Claw and use it on a Draugr Altar.
  4. Awaken and defeat the Draugr Overlord to claim high-tier rewards.
  5. Charge an Awakening Soul Gem by defeating Draugr.
  6. Trigger a Draugr Raid and survive increasingly dangerous waves at a location of your choice.

You can interact with individual parts of the mod at your own pace, but following the full progression turns Draugr Invasion into a complete RPG-style adventure.

Explore Forgotten Nordic Ruins

Four structures generate naturally across the world. Each has its own scale, purpose, enemies, rewards, and exploration challenges, including traps, hidden passages, and puzzles.

Draugr Bastion

A massive ruined fortification hidden among cold mountains.

Its halls contain treasure rooms, secret passages, environmental puzzles, Golden Claw Fragments, dangerous guardians, and a grand chamber built around a Draugr Altar. Reassemble the Golden Claw, awaken the Draugr Overlord, defeat it, and claim the reward chest that rises from the ground.

Draugr Bastion

Draugr Crypt

The largest and rarest Draugr dungeon.

Crypts contain sprawling underground layouts with interconnected rooms, environmental puzzles, hidden mechanisms, secret chambers, magical traps, treasure halls, and multiple combat encounters. Search the entire dungeon for Golden Claw Fragments before descending into the central arena to face the Draugr Overlord.

Draugr Crypt

Draugr Fort

An abandoned Overworld fort occupied by Infernal Draugr.

Smaller than a Bastion or Crypt, but still heavily defended and worth clearing for the loot hidden inside.

Draugr Fort

Draugr Tower

A compact surface structure built in a Nordic medieval style.

Each tower contains thematic loot and a hostile garrison that can be defeated before the structure is claimed.

Draugr Tower

Face a Complete Enemy Faction

Every creature has a distinct combat role. Mixed groups become much more dangerous because enemies pressure the player in different ways.

Creature Combat Role
Draugr Frontline melee fighter and the backbone of most encounters.
Draugr Archer Ranged support that maintains pressure from a distance.
Draugr Wight Hybrid fighter that switches between melee combat and frost projectiles.
Draugr Scourge Dedicated spellcaster that is dangerous at range but vulnerable up close.
Infernal Draugr Agile elite enemy with powerful attacks and evasive dodges.
Skeleton Warrior Durable heavy fighter that hits hard and can absorb punishment.
Skeleton Warrior Head A severed skull that flees and can regenerate into a complete Skeleton Warrior if ignored.
Flame Atronach A summonable fire elemental that provides ranged magical support.
Draugr Overlord Boss-tier enemy with rush attacks, multi-hit combos, and special abilities.

Smarter Combat

These are not ordinary shambling undead. Draugr were warriors in life, and their behavior reflects it.

  • Context-aware blocking: Draugr can react to incoming attacks and raise their guard.
  • Potion usage: Wounded Draugr can heal when the situation gives them an opening.
  • Threat assessment: Enemies consider health, distance, and danger before choosing their next action.
  • Evasive behavior: Infernal Draugr can avoid attacks instead of simply absorbing every hit.
  • Ranged magic: Wights, Scourges, and Atronachs pressure players with elemental projectiles.
  • Boss combat: The Overlord uses fully animated rushes, combo sequences, special attacks, and combat windows that reward timing and positioning.

Different enemies feel different to fight, and encounters become significantly more dangerous when several combat roles are combined.

Artifacts, Magic, and Progression

Ancient artifacts connect exploration, combat, and the endgame progression.

  • Spell Staves: Channel destructive magic and can be discovered in structures or crafted.
  • Golden Claw Fragments: Hidden throughout Draugr Crypts and Bastions.
  • Golden Claw: Reassemble the fragments and use the completed claw to activate a Draugr Altar.
  • Awakening Soul Gem: Absorbs the essence of defeated Draugr. Defeat 12 Draugr while carrying it to fully charge the gem.
  • Filled Awakening Soul Gem: Use it at the surface to begin a Draugr Raid at your current position.
  • Soul Gems: Power player-owned Spell Caster Traps.

Awakening Soul Gems can be found in vanilla and modded loot chests, or crafted directly.

The Draugr Raid

The Draugr are not attacking a village. They are hunting you.

Once an Awakening Soul Gem is fully charged, use it at the surface to call the Draugr to your current position.

Each wave becomes more dangerous:

  1. Early waves: Draugr and Skeleton Warriors establish the assault.
  2. Middle waves: Wights and Scourges introduce ranged pressure and magic.
  3. Final wave: A Draugr Overlord enters the battlefield.

Draugr Raids are repeatable endgame encounters that can be triggered when and where you choose.

Raid waves, enemy counts, post-Nether difficulty, creature composition, and Overlord spawns can all be customized.

Ancient Traps and Player Defenses

Nordic ruins are protected by magical sentinels that automatically detect intruders and cast destructive spells.

Player Spellcaster Trap

  • Frostbite Trap: Fires freezing magic that slows and damages its target.
  • Frost Spike Trap: Launches fast, piercing spikes of ice.
  • Firebolt Trap: Fires blazing projectiles for direct fire damage.

These traps are not limited to dungeons.

Players can craft every variant with Ebony Ingots, place them around their own bases, and power them with Soul Gems. Dungeon traps do not consume souls.

Multiplayer-Friendly Loot

Draugr structures use a personal loot system designed for shared worlds and servers.

  • Every player receives an independent loot roll from the same chest.
  • Opening a chest does not remove another player's rewards.
  • The system supports vanilla and modded loot tables.
  • Custom chests feature immersive opening and spawn animations.
  • Personal loot can be disabled if a modpack needs traditional shared inventories.

Explore together without racing your friends to every reward chest.

Optional RPG Expansion

Draugr Invasion can be played completely on its own, but it also integrates with Mebahel's RPG: Villager Quests and Companions.

The integration adds three dedicated questlines and three rumors, giving villagers reasons to send you toward Draugr ruins and connecting the faction to a wider RPG adventure.

The quest mod is completely optional.

Extensive In-Game Configuration

The default settings are ready to play, but nearly every important balance value can be adjusted for solo worlds, multiplayer servers, and modpacks.

Configuration can be edited directly in game through the Mebahel Mods menu, so manual JSON editing is optional.
