About this Mod
Prefer OpenGL
This project includes loader-specific entrypoints for:
- Fabric
- Quilt
- Forge
- NeoForge (in development)
All variants call the same shared logic to force an OpenGL renderer preference by editing options.txt.
Shared behavior
On client startup, each loader entrypoint ensures one of these keys is set to OpenGL:
graphicsApiPreference:prefer_openglgraphicsApi:prefer_opengl(legacy fallback)
If neither exists, it appends graphicsApiPreference:prefer_opengl.

Important note!
This mod fixes crash on Amethyst Launcher (and other mobile java launchers) which does have vulkan but doesn't have some librarys. So, Minecraft switchs to Vulkan API and crashes. More ever what this mod does is it forces OpenGL as the renderer API. And if you're device supports Vulkan API please don't use this mod first try if Vulkan works or not.

Does Prefer OpenGL need to be installed on the Minecraft server?
No. Modrinth marks Prefer OpenGL as unsupported on the server side. Install it only in your local Minecraft mods folder. Your server can remain unchanged unless the mod page lists an additional dependency.
Which version and loader does Prefer OpenGL require?
Use a file for fabric, forge, quilt and your exact Minecraft version. Supported versions include 26.3-snapshot-9, 26.3-snapshot-8, 26.3-snapshot-7. Files for different loaders are not interchangeable.
Prefer OpenGL is not working – what should I check?
First check the Minecraft version, loader version and required dependencies. Put the .jar file in your local .minecraft/mods folder and remove older duplicates. Because this mod is client-side, adding server RAM will not fix it.
