Minecraft: Steam Deck Edition
MC Steam Deck Edition is a Vanilla+ modpack intended to be used as your Steam Deck main version. Including a full controller support, performance improvements and other enhancements, it will make your adventures more enjoyable, wherever you decide to play.
About this Modpack

Minecraft: Steam Deck Edition is a carefully handcrafted Fabric modpack made for everyone willing to play a Vanilla Minecraft on their Steam Deck but with a few enhancements. My goal is to provide the Minecraft experience as it should have been in Vanilla on this platform, without adding features that wouldn't make sense. Do not play Minecraft, play this modpack instead!
This pack is dedicated to people who want the best experience out-of-the-box, without having to read long tutorials on how to make the game work.
Fun fact: this modpack is being made (almost) entirely on the Steam Deck.
IMPORTANT: As this pack is made to be used on the Steam Deck (in Gaming Mode), you will probably encounter issues if you play in Desktop Mode. Please do not report anything if it only happens in this mode.

💫 Features and enhancements
🧈 Smooth experience
Minecraft: Steam Deck Edition has been designed to work out-of-the-box, without any tweak or setting to make it stable at 90 frames. Of course, you can still edit anything you want!
😎 Improved immersion
Minecraft: Steam Deck Edition has a lot of optimization and QoL mods to improve your experience, may it be to disable unwanted features like telemetry or to add new visual and audio details to the world. Play Minecraft on-the-go as if you were in the game.
🎮 Enhanced controls
This modpack has been designed from the beginning to be played solely on the Valve's Steam Deck. Each bind has been thoroughly setup for the best experience.
✅ Always up-to-date
Provided Fabric API and mods are updated quickly enough, I'll do my best to keep the modpack playable using the latest Minecraft version.
📝 Note: Snapshots won't be used in updates.

Frequently Asked Questions
Minecraft: Steam Deck Edition server crashes or won't start – what to do?
Most common causes: insufficient RAM or wrong fabric loader. Check latest.log for "OutOfMemoryError" → increase RAM to at least 6 GB. For "Mixin" or "ClassNotFoundException" errors: modpack version and loader don't match. With Mado Hosting, loader and Minecraft version are auto-configured on modpack install – preventing most startup issues.
How much RAM does a Minecraft: Steam Deck Edition server really need?
Minimum 4 GB, recommended 6 GB for stable performance. per 8 players. Important: Minecraft modpacks need more RAM than vanilla – plan extra per additional player. With Mado Hosting, you can scale RAM up live at any time without data loss (from €5.2/month).
Can I add custom mods to Minecraft: Steam Deck Edition without conflicts?
Yes, but check compatibility: only use mods for the same loader (fabric) and same Minecraft version (1.21.1). Common issues: ID conflicts with recipe mods and incompatible coremod versions. The Mado dashboard mod browser only shows compatible mods and warns about known conflicts.
Minecraft: Steam Deck Edition server lagging – performance tips
1) Increase RAM to 6 GB+. 2) Reduce server view-distance to 8 (server.properties). 3) Pre-generate chunks with the "Chunky" plugin. 4) Use /spark profiler to check which mods consume the most tick time. With Mado Hosting, all servers run on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores – eliminating hardware as a bottleneck.
