ChatTweaks

ChatTweaks is a mod adding functional changes to your chat, such as compact chat.

This work, "ChatTweaks", is adapted from "PolyPatcher", used under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. "PolyPatcher" is licensed under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 by Polyfrost.

Feature List

Compact Chat - Clean up the chat by stacking duplicate messages (Does not work with Labymod) *default
Consecutive Compact Chat - Only compact messages if they're consecutive.
Compact Chat Time - Change the amount of time old messages take to stop being compacted. (Measured in seconds)
Remove Blank Messages - Stop messages with no content from showing up in chat.
Shift Chat - Keep chat open while sending a message if Shift is held while pressing Enter.
Chat Timestamps - Add timestamps before a message.
Chat Timestamps Style - Choose how Chat Timestamps should appear.
Chat Timestamps Format - Change the time format of Chat Timestamps.
Show Seconds on Timestamps - Show the seconds on a timestamped message.
Safe Chat Clicks - Show the command or link that is run/opened on click.

How to Install ChatTweaks on Your Client

Install the Mod Loader Locally

Install fabric for your local Minecraft version.

Download the Matching File

Choose the ChatTweaks file for fabric and Minecraft 26.3.

Install Mod

Place the .jar file in your local .minecraft/mods folder and restart Minecraft. No server-side installation is required.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does ChatTweaks need to be installed on the Minecraft server?

No. Modrinth marks ChatTweaks as unsupported on the server side. Install it only in your local Minecraft mods folder. Your server can remain unchanged unless the mod page lists an additional dependency.

Which version and loader does ChatTweaks require?

Use a file for fabric, ornithe and your exact Minecraft version. Supported versions include 26.3, 26.2, 26.1.2. Files for different loaders are not interchangeable.

ChatTweaks is not working – what should I check?

First check the Minecraft version, loader version and required dependencies. Put the .jar file in your local .minecraft/mods folder and remove older duplicates. Because this mod is client-side, adding server RAM will not fix it.
