Default Options
Ship default options or keybinds without having to overwrite an existing options.txt.
About this Mod
This mod can be used by modpack developers to distribute default options and keybindings without overriding user changes on every modpack update.
Instead of shipping the options.txt directly, you will ship a "defaultoptions" folder in your modpack which contains the defaults previously saved through the /defaultoptions command.
This mod requires Balm, which must be installed alongside the mod.
- On the first run, users will start out with the options you configured - and future changes won't be overridden on updated
- Keybinds configured by the modpack will be set as new defaults, meaning changes made by users will persist even on updates
- The server list will be pre-populated with the server list provided by the modpack (and user changes will persist on updates, still)
- Configure the options, keybinds and server list as you would like them to be shipped in the modpack
- Join any world and run "/defaultoptions saveAll" to save your current options in the defaultoptions folder (located in the config folder where it should remain)
- Do not include the options.txt and servers.dat from the root directory in your modpack
- Fresh installations (meaning no existing options.txt) will now start out with your default options

Does Default Options need to be installed on the Minecraft server?
No. Modrinth marks Default Options as unsupported on the server side. Install it only in your local Minecraft mods folder. Your server can remain unchanged unless the mod page lists an additional dependency.
Which version and loader does Default Options require?
Use a file for fabric, forge, neoforge and your exact Minecraft version. Supported versions include 26.2, 26.1.2, 26.1.1. Files for different loaders are not interchangeable.
Default Options is not working – what should I check?
First check the Minecraft version, loader version and required dependencies. Put the .jar file in your local .minecraft/mods folder and remove older duplicates. Because this mod is client-side, adding server RAM will not fix it.
