Installation Guide

Install Minecraft 1.8.9, 1.12.2, 1.16.5 and above.
Install the Forge Mod Loader or the Fabric Mod Loader.
Place the mod in your minecraft/mods directory.
If you'd like, build the mod yourself.

Features

Removes player modal in main menu.

Removes player modal in pause menu.

Removes invite friends option.

Removes all cosmetics and their options.

Removes notifications.

"Essential Settings..." removed and replaced by "Snooper Settings...".

Removes tab and nametag indicator.

Removes Essential's ability connecting to external servers, i.e. telemetry.

How to Install Not So Essential on Your Client

Does Not So Essential need to be installed on the Minecraft server?

No. Modrinth marks Not So Essential as unsupported on the server side. Install it only in your local Minecraft mods folder. Your server can remain unchanged unless the mod page lists an additional dependency.

Which version and loader does Not So Essential require?

Use a file for fabric, forge and your exact Minecraft version. Supported versions include 26.2, 26.1.2, 26.1.1. Files for different loaders are not interchangeable.

Not So Essential is not working – what should I check?
