About this Mod

Resonance Banner

Resonance is a cross-platform clientside mod which adds ambient sounds that play under different conditions, including: different biomes, nearby blocks, time, seasons (if Serene Seasons is installed), etc.

With the release of 1.21.5 adding ambient sand sounds and firefly bush sounds, I felt that a lot more could have been done with ambiance, including having a higher variety of sounds to make the game feel more alive. Resonance is the solution to that problem. Unlike other ambient sound mods, Resonance doesn't play a simple loop containing all of the sounds of a biome, rather it plays a combination of idle loops and additional sounds under specific conditions. This makes the game feel more immersive and gives a more realisic feeling to the ambiance around you compared to other mods, while also not deviating far from the style of the vanilla game's preexisting ambiance.

Alongside that, Resonance also enhances thunder by playing different sounds depending on distance, making storms now feel more menancing than before. And of course, this and everything else mentioned can be configured.

FAQs

Will this mod be backported to version X?

NO and please don't ask for a backport. This mod will recieve updates to newer versions, but no version before 1.21.5 will be ported to by any means. You are free however, to backport it yourself, but please make sure to note that said backport is unofficial.

Will other mods that add biomes have ambient sounds?

Yes, as long as the modded biomes use conventional tags. (ex. #c:is_forest), most use these so feel free to use whatever biome mods you want to!

Can I play with this mod while connected to a non-modded server?

Absolutely! Resonance is a client-side mod and doesn't rely on any server functionality. Feel free to use this mod while playing on any of your favorite servers!

Can I use Resonance in my modpack?

Yes! Resonance is free to be used in any modpack that you wish to put it in. No strings attached.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Resonance need to be installed on the Minecraft server?

No. Modrinth marks Resonance as unsupported on the server side. Install it only in your local Minecraft mods folder. Your server can remain unchanged unless the mod page lists an additional dependency.

Which version and loader does Resonance require?

Use a file for fabric, neoforge and your exact Minecraft version. Supported versions include 1.21.11, 1.21.5. Files for different loaders are not interchangeable.

Resonance is not working – what should I check?

First check the Minecraft version, loader version and required dependencies. Put the .jar file in your local .minecraft/mods folder and remove older duplicates. Because this mod is client-side, adding server RAM will not fix it.
