About this Mod
⛏️ ReducedOres - Mod
Ever installed a few content mods and ended up with caves that contain more ore than stone?
When several mods add their own resources, mining can quickly become overwhelming. Ores appear everywhere, storage fills up almost immediately, and finding a valuable vein no longer feels particularly valuable.
ReducedOres lets you tone that down.
It reduces how often ores generate and can make the veins smaller, giving you more control over the amount of resources in your world. The goal is not to make mining frustrating, it is to make finding ore feel worthwhile again.

What can be changed?
ReducedOres allows you to:
- Reduce how frequently ores generate
- Scale down the size of ore veins
- Apply the changes across different dimensions
- Affect both vanilla and modded ores
- Add specific ores that should be reduced
- Exclude ores that should remain untouched
Everything can be adjusted through the configuration file, so you can choose between a small reduction and a much harsher mining experience.

Who is it for?
ReducedOres is especially useful for:
- Large modpacks with many ore-adding mods
- Survival and hardcore playthroughs
- Packs built around exploration and slower progression
- Players who want mining to remain important
- Modpack creators trying to prevent resource overflow
You do not need to turn every cave into an empty tunnel. Even a small reduction can make progression feel noticeably more balanced.
Compatibility
ReducedOres is designed to work with vanilla ores as well as ores added by other mods.
It can be used alongside world-generation mods such as Terralith and BetterNether, and with mods that add their own ores, including Create and AllTheOres.
The mod stays focused on ore generation. It does not change loot tables, structures, recipes, or unrelated world-generation features.
Configuration
Adjust everything through the config file:
- ore_size_multiplier - controls vein size
- ore_generation_chance - controls how often ores generate
- custom_ores - adds specific vanilla or modded ores
- excluded_ores - keeps selected ores unchanged
Values range from 0.01 to 1.0. Lower values mean smaller and rarer ore veins.
Less ore does not have to mean less fun.
Sometimes it just means that finding diamonds feels like finding diamonds again.
